Course Description: The course provides an introduction to optical fiber structures, propagation characteristics, fabrication, cabling, optical measurements, loss, dispersion, nonlinear effects, optical emission, optical detection, optical amplification and fiber-optic devices.

3. Explain the process of optical signal emission, detection and amplification. Assignment (10%) and final examination (20%)
