Dr. Sharifah Fatmadiana Wan Muhammad Hatta

Course Details

Course Code: KIE4018

Course Title: VLSI Design

Credit Hour: 2

Course Description: This course is intended to be an introduction to the design of very large scale integration (VLSI) circuits. Advanced topics includes: IC technology, CAD tools, layout, design rules, CMOS circuit characterization and performance estimation, standard cells and full custom designs, architectures for VLSI, timing, and testability.

Alignment of Learning Outcomes to Assessment

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES (CLO)

PROGRAMME LEARNING OUTCOMES (PLO)

METHOD OF ASSESSMENT & ASSESSMENT WEIGHTAGE

PLO3 PLO4 PLO7
1. Design VLSI logic as circuits, stick diagrams and layout subject to design rules and specification. Test (10%), final examination (30%) and assignment (10%)
2. Analyse CMOS performance in terms of area, power and speed. Test (10%) and final examination (20%)
3. Evaluate the properties of VLSI technology and how they affect logic implementation, optimisation and system design. Presentation (10%) and final examination (10%)
